public Notary

Your trusted partner for your public notary needs

A Notary Public is effectively a “International Justice of the Peace”.

Clients require the services of a notary for a range of reasons including applications for visas, authentication of Australian education documents when applying for employment overseas, witnessing affidavits and other documents for use in other jurisdictions and Powers of Attorney for use in other countries.

In some cases, a notarisation of a document is sufficient for the purposes of the receiving country. In many cases however, the authenticity of the signature and seal of the notary needs to be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This is obtained by either an Apostille (if the relevant country is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention) or by authentication (where the country is not a party to that convention). In the latter case a further legalisation by the Embassy of the receiving country will also be required.

Paula Scott has been appointed as a Notary Public by the Supreme Court of NSW and has been practising as a Notary for more than six years. She is available to assist clients with their notarial requirements.

Meet Paula, Our Public Notary

If you ask Paula what attracted her to a career in the law she will tell you it’s because every day she gets to work with her two favourite things in life, words and people.  She considers it a very great privilege to work alongside the current generation of families that Penmans have been serving for generations.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Paula successfully undertook the Law Society of NSW Specialist Accreditation process in 2023.

Paula is the current President of the Central Coast Regional Law Society.
